| Cool Band ShotIn April Darby and I went to shoot the rock band Guster at the UA Greek Theater. Guster was in town as part of Reverb Rock's Campus Consciousness Tour, a green initiative which is really great! We had a blast, heard a terrific concert (Guster is one of my favorite bands), and got some fabulous shots.
One of shots was of Adam Gardner, Co-Founder of Reverb and Guitarist and Vocalist in Guster. I got an email yesterday telling me that Adam has chosen this to be his press shot - how cool is that!!?? Some days are just better than others!!

| Been a long time. . .OK, it's been since February since I posted here - been BUSY! I know, no excuse. We also started on Facebook, which is very interesting, much more interactive, gets much more immediate feedback, and takes a lot of my already limited time. I wish there was a cool way to do both, but if so I haven't found it yet.
So I'm not giving this blog up, just need to make sure I get back to it more often. Here's a recent shot on Dickson Street of Caroline and Eric: Quite a few things have changed since February, by the way! New website is in the works, new "look" to our images, and I think a lot more fun! I will do better about posting here, but to see videos and lots more pictures visit SRP on Facebook!

| WPPI conventionDana and I are attending the annual convention of the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, the largest of the year in the US. We drove out last week, cause she hates to fly, and we both enjoy a nice drive - so much to see that you can't see from above! The panorama below was alongside the road in New Mexico. The next shot was a truck that was nice enough to position itself between us and the setting sun, which always aligns perfectly with I-40. We enjoyed the shade for several minutes, and took advantage to get this shot!
On Sunday we attended the WPPI Business Institute, and soaked up all the ideas we could on how to do a better job of running our photo business. We have lots of things to discuss, decide, redo, and remake about what we do, but in a few months there will be some big changes show up!!

| A Surprise EngagementWednesday night Dana and I went to the Razorback game against Tennessee with high hopes - would this be the game the Hogs pulled out of their slump and win an SEC game at home??? Hope, it wasn't to be, although it was a nail-biter to the last seconds - the Vols got their last shot to go in, and Arkansas missed two under the rim as time expired. Oh, so close.
But the trip wasn't a total loss. On my way out the door I grabbed my camera - I'd been meaning to try to get a good panoramic shot inside. I took several sets from a few different vantage points, and got a pretty good result, and settled in to watch the game. Just before halftime was over, though, the big screen on the scoreboard showed something interesting and new - a young man in uniform was proposing to a member of the Hog Wild Band!! She apparently said yes, as there was lots of hugging and kissing and cheering from the band and the student section. Then the couple went up the stairs where the young lady discovered her family was present, then they all went up to the lobby area.
Well, I sat there for a few minutes thinking, they'd probably be happy to get a good picture of this, then got up and trotted over to that side of the building. They were all still there, having a happy chat. The young man in uniform is a senior member of the AFROTC program, and I introduced myself as a retired AF pilot and now photographer and would they like a picture? They were pretty pleased with the idea, so I grabbed some quick shots to capture their very happy faces. As soon as I hear from him I will send them the pix - what fun! Best of luck to these guys!

| Darby on Ice!Darby shares a house near campus with several friends. The day after the freezing rain finally stopped she called and said they were had no power, no heat, were out of wood and food, and would I please come get her and bring her home. Oh yeah, you bet I would. So I fired up our most excellent four-wheel drive vehicle and eased across town. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, but plenty bad enough.
Got her home where we enjoyed a day of visiting, working, studying, etc., but the next day dawned with the promise of clear blue skies and rising temperatures and Darby said, Let's go out and take some pictures! Well, you don't have to prod me twice. She dressed up, Dana did her hair and makeup, and we went out for fun in the ice.
The pictures are all within a few yards of our front door, and the yard is a horrible mess with downed branches and trees, but we wanted to capture some contrast of lovely vs torn up, and also just have fun with girl in ice! So here is a collage with a few of Darby's favorite shots. The rest will be up on Pictage as soon as we can get them sorted! Thanks Darby, for a great idea and being a great model - too bad Shannon wasn't here, we could've had twice the fun!!
